Pharmacy Technician

Division: Health Care Technologies

Job Description
Under the direction of a pharmacist, you will interpret prescriptions, file insurance claims, help customers and patients, and prepare prescriptions. Pharmacy technicians retrieve, count, pour, weigh, and mix the necessary parts of compounded medications.

Employment/ Job Outlook
Employment for pharmacy technicians is expected to grow much faster in the next eight years compared to other occupations. Pharmacy technicans hold over 19,000 jobs.

Certification
Students must pass national and state boards, or be able to do so within six months of employment in order to receive permanent employment.

Estimated Starting Wage
$10.00- $12.00 hourly

Tuition and Fees
High school students attend all courses tuition and registration-free.
Adults pay tuition currently as low as $1.00 an hour.
Additional cost will apply for required textbooks.
